Food Quality: 4.5/5

Service: 4/5

Ambiance: 3.5/5

Price: 4/5

Total: 4/5

Aarde is a restaurant focusing on foods from the African continent, however, upon eating there it becomes evident that there are also Italian aspects to the food. Overall the quality of the food was satisfactory to a high extent. We ordered a diverse selection of food from meat to semolina truffle risotto. The risotto in particular was beyond good, having the soft texture of semolina grain rather than rice, and yet still holding that creamy flavor combined with just the right amount of truffle. For these reasons, we give the food a 4.5/5.

The service was also quite good, this was particularly seen when we were brought a complement pumpkin hummus, accompanied by a side of flat bread. A wonderful start to a good meal. However, towards the end of our meal, they brought the wrong meat to the table. For this reason, we give them a 4/5 for service. The location was pretty and in a very good part of Madrid, the architecture and decoration of the interior were thematic with African influence, however, it wasn’t very well designed acoustically so there was a significant amount of noise from other tables. For this reason, we give ambiance 3.5/5. The price was standard for a restaurant of that class in the center of Madrid, leaning towards the expensive side considering the dishes. For that reason, we give a price rating of 4/5.

Considering these four criteria, a final rating of 4/5 is given to Aarde Madrid. Under the consideration of the Grub-Getters, we strongly recommend this restaurant.
