99 sushi is a world renowned Japanese sushi bar “chain” on par with the likes of Kabuki and Nobu. In this review, the focus will be on 99 sushi in the eurobuilding, located in the neighborhood of Charmartin, near Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium. 99 sushi provides extremely high quality, traditional Japanese dishes, coupled with an elegant dining experience.

If there’s anything that 99 sushi stands out for, it’s the high quality of their fish. The best way to describe it is just sensational: a simple thin slice of their salmon or tuna on a ball of rice alone, is mouthwatering. However, the flavors of certain dishes not only match, but also exceed that of the freshness of the fish. Their gyozas de Jabali, tiger shrimp tempura and slow cooked ribs are also masterpieces, despite being meat dishes. Certain plates, such as the salmon tartare, and spicy toro temaki also make use of delicate sauces, bolstering the general taste of the dish. The food quality and flavor as this restaurant is second to none, at least in regards to Japanese food.

The service is extremely serious and professional. There are several waiters who are capable and handy whenever the customer has any general demands. Furthermore, there are specialty trained sommeliers, who have expert knowledge about the dishes on the menu, and specific wines that will synthesize well with the customers order. Finally, there are managers who take orders, and are always there to deal with specific complaints and inquiries pertaining to the restaurant.

Elegant and modern interior design, along with an open bar where the customer can see their order being prepared. Overall, quite pleasant and relaxing environment, not particularly ideal for younger people, but great setting for a Valentine's date night with the girlfriend, or celebrating a holiday with the family. Simply pleasant.

The price at 99 sushi is extreme, with a majority of dishes averaging around 25 euros each. While the quality of the food is high, the quantity is relatively small, especially at such a high price point. This is definitely not a place that you can frequent unless you’re making an eight figure salary…However, despite the high price, it’s definitely a worthy stop if one has the funds, especially as a celebratory night.
